Posted: 8/20/03 County will auction tax-forfeited landWashington County will hold a public auction of tax-forfeited land 9:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 29 in the board room at the Washington County Government Center in Stillwater. Nine parcels, eight of which are vacant land (one has an uninhabitable house) will be auctioned. A full list is available in the Assessment, Taxpayer Services and Elections department at the County Government Center. Payment in full is required at the time of purchase. Cashier's checks, money orders, certified checks and personal checks are all accepted. A driver's license or other valid I.D. is required for identification. Before purchasing tax-forfeited land, buyers may want to contact the city or township where the property is located, regarding zoning ordinances, unpaid levies and pending special assessments. All tax-forfeited property is sold as is and may not conform to local city and township building and zoning ordinances.
